Re: After install COMODO Firewall 3.0 BOINC client shows "don't connected to a client"

Hi,

Coincidentally I wrote yesterday about my Bad Bad experience with the new Comodo AV that was few weeks ago integrated into the Firewall of them. After nightmarish experience loosing nearly 1000 jobs I kicked it off, permanently.

Best you delete the Comodo profile entirely, set it to auto-training and hope for the best.

Maybe at the Comodo support forum they have an answer, but generally free passage is needed for:

BOINC.exe
BOINCmgr.exe
BOINC.scr
The Science applications

- passage for local host comms on IP 127.0.0.1 so BOINC can talk to the Mgr.
- passage for port 31416 for same reason.
- passage for a random OS assigned port to / from the different BOINC - parts in the range 1025-5000 and a random port somewhere above 50,000
open access through ports 80 and 443 to the outside world

sorry, but it's a dog and even after uninstalling and booting still had something in there that needed registry hacking and removal of a deeply embedded driver to get BOINC to work again. In short a dangerous package unless very intimate with it.

ciao

smile Re: After install COMODO Firewall 3.0 BOINC client shows "don't connected to a client"

Hello Sekerob!

Thanks for your help.

At last I uninstall BOINC and delete directory c:\program files\boinc. I delete BOINC applications (boinc.exe, boincmgr.exe and boinc.scr) in COMODO v3.5: "Firewall > Advanced > Network Security Policy". Restart de PC and install BOINC... then... It works smile !!!
