Most internet users can read English to some degree. The percentage of individuals who can learn by reading documents in a foreign language however is rather limited. And many also feel that while they don't understand something fully, and thus cannot grasp its importance, they can rest assured that if it is important to them then the page would be translated to their native language. And this is what has now been asked for.
I just found this page here http://www.fightaids.de/ which is rather nice in my view. And there should also be something like http://www.fightaids.pt or .br, if it helps to attract contributors - from my visits to Lisbon I would very much guess so. All these extraneous sites aside, if WorldCommunityGrid does not offer translations themselves, there could be official pointers to national "partner sites" or so at the home page. |

That's a great looking page find Steffen. Unfortunately, it's not maintained and all subsequent pages advertise the old UD Agent and how to install and run. Some people will be able to make out and find their way to the new client, but it also puts off those not so computer savvy potential volunteers. I'll ask the admin to see if they can contact the owner of the site but if you could take it upon yourself to do same it's much appreciated.

and I would not have translated the project name "FightAIDS@Home" since it is (and remains) the name of the project and everyone German-spoken individual probably knows what "Fight" is about - thanks to Hollywood. Hi Steffen! First I didn't translate the project name, because it's difficult to make clear translations: Help Conquer Cancer and Help Defeat Cancer are very similiar project names, which are translated to Hilf Krebs zu besiegen and Hilf Krebs zu schlagen. Not really clear. But I make the decission to translate project names because: 1. it's translated on wcg site (see french translation), too 2. the wiki is for new members from germany, austria, switzerland etc. and german speaking people don't search for 'cancer', 'clean energy' etc. They search for 'krebs', 'saubere Energie' etc. But you are right. We must mention the english project name to link it with the german translation. I'll change it. crille |

Hello, I could not spot any wrong links, really. The worldcommunitygrid.org site is pointed to. This is not any wrong, is it? Maybe the maintainer was real quick in following your suggestions :)

http://babelfish.yahoo.com/translate_txt This site will automatically translate Web pages and text passages for you from/to many languages. Be careful with babelfish! In my former life life, I was responsible for translating texts from Dutch to French, English, and German. The texts were commentaries on laboratory tests in the clinical laboratory. Using babelfish real horrors were produced with senses that were very different, and sometimes unrelated to the original. ![]() Cheers, Paul [Edit 1 times, last edit by vep at Feb 15, 2015 2:40:54 PM] |
