btw, does HPF2 use the latest Rosetta algorithms ? I do not know just where the fork is. We had our version in 2006. Rosetta is constantly changing. so is there a high possibility that 1. results may be not very precise 2. there may be waste of computing resources because outdated algorithm spends much time on potentially incorrect folding which may be detected and aborted by heuristics in latest algorithms? ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by rilian at Jan 19, 2009 9:58:46 AM] |

No!
It is vital that each entire experiment be conducted using the same algorithm. When we launched HPF2, we updated to the latest Rosetta version so that the scientists could conduct higher resolution experiments. In the future, we can update again if the scientists need it. However, when critical problems are found, then the techs can and do update the code on the fly. A brief beta test, and you see a new application version on the grid. |
