I care only in so much is more then one answer (version) exists. I want to know why I see what I see on WCG. All my questions have been answered. I just wanted to know what was going on in regards to seeing multiple versions of which WCG is not showing support for all via Berkeley. Thank you for those who answered my question and did not s**t on me for asking! Your very welcome Cyberia :) . ![]() |

AGAIN I AM CONFUSED AND YOU ARE CONFUSING THE ISSUE HERE! WCG is as slow to move and react in this matter as the military is with upgrading! Again you are having people test software that is already out of date!? Makes no sense! So please come on people what is going on!? Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough in my thoughts. For someone who had a question, the above quote is no way to start a conversation. If we were speaking face-to-face and you spoke to me like that, you might get a slap to face. Your confusion does not make it a crisis for the CAs and Techs. There are about 80,000 daily contributors to WCG but there are only about a dozen true experts on this system. Please treat them with the respect that I believe they have earned. Be nice, ask a question and you'll get an accurate, honest response that you will find is very helpful. |

. It is a big pile of bugs that lucky alpha testers get to play with. Oh, the pile isn't that big D. The recent 6.3.21 (alpha) is pretty much the recommended version for GPUGrid (beta). There are still some bugs for GPU, however I can say from experience it runs fine with WCG (HCC & Rice) and with D@H, POEM, QMC & CPND. As to other projects, I do not know. But run it at your own risk. "You pays your money and takes your chances. You should pity them, it isn't fun. Yes, it is fun. ![]() ![]() |

250 open issues (123 of which are defects), and I know for a fact that list isn't complete.
So, lots of bugs, whether they affect normal crunching or not. |

That's not a big list, it's a walk in the park. That's why they call it testing. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Nov 7, 2008 4:34:56 PM] |

If I thought they would be fixed before release, I would agree with you. But experience tells me that BOINC 6.4 will be released with known bugs and insufficient testing. No discredit to the testers - they do an excellent job. It's the development model that is broken.

I agree about their testing... BOINC’s motto of late seems to be, “A new release a week is all we ask.”
---------------------------------------- But if you want to run your card on GPUGrid as well as use all your other CPU cores too, 6.3.21 is the best release available and works with the projects I mentioned. I’m testing it with Yoyo now. ![]() ![]() |

World Community Grid's version of the BOINC is not intended to significantly differ from the Berkeley version. From release to release we only intend to have the following changes:
----------------------------------------
Why has the version number gone from 6.2.19 to 6.2.25 (and later today we should have 6.2.26)? The following major items were changed:

I’m testing it with Yoyo now. ![]() I've managed to get all cores and the GPU to work under 6.3.10 with a little tweaking, though it took such a toll on resources (lowest supported card) that it was not worth running on that host. Now, for the following reasons, I kind of don't want to upgrade: While I was in there, I added an update all button, which will synch all projects you are attached to, so you don't have to do them individually. Also, added an override (since a couple project automatically back out to 24 hours before contact if no work is available) to make the update wait no longer than 1 hour. and finally, though I've not got it working quite right yet, added separate queue length, so you can set a different queue depth for each project (2 days for one project, 0.5 days for another, 1 day for another, etc.) Though it's still not quite right, as sometimes they do not grab any work, even if it is available, and the cache dry. :( Would be nice to see these features in a stable release, but for now I have learned my lesson: Don't tweak alpha code, lol... Perhaps I will add the options again later to a stable release :/ |

Why would you add an "Update all Projects" button when selecting all projects and hitting "Update" does that in 6.2... maybe a reason to downgrade... LoL
