A bug?

Got a 256K ram system. Status is one project results already uploaded and ready to report and another project, faah, I aborted for the first time ever, due to "waiting for more memory" status. So right now I see 2 tasks in my tasks tab, 2 tasks show "in progress"" in results status page, my system is not doing anything and no data is downloaded. Seems to me like a bug that I'm not getting any new data from the server.

Re: A bug?

Can you please visit the message log and post a good chunk where it pauses the job and the BOINC startup portion where it shows information per the below example that will tell us how much memory your client is allowed to use. Did you change anything on the website device profile? If not, the default Standard profile allows about 60% use of free ram which is critical for larger programs like DDDT and FAAH. The reason you received the job indicates that the servers think you have enough available ram.

Also, do make sure your Swapfile/VM is big enough. FAAH uses almost 360mb of that at times. See Matrix

I exited BOINC so I don't have the message log when it paused the job. I did a "Do network communication", the 2 tasks cleared and got a new task. I also disabled FAAH in my profile so I won't get this again but nothing was changed before. All is runnig fine now.

This gives you very little margin, and is below the WCG recommendations.

Re: A bug?

As noted by Didactylos, this is the problem line:

04/10/2008 14:53:04||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 111.74MB

It will stop a FAAH job during computer use. If you leave the device alone it will resume computing as it will use the "idle" setting

04/10/2008 14:53:04||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 201.14MB

See my posted matrix link for information on job minima. Suggest to increase to at least 65-70% creating enough memory permission to crunch while using the PC.

After, let it run and see if it happens again.
