Hiya,
Question, which I hope someone has an answer to. Since WCG migrated to the new setup, I've been having problems with getting out of the screensaver mode. In about half of all cases when I move the mouse, the pointer reappers and the project screensaver screen freezes and I have to force a restart of my system. This didn't used to happen with the old WCG and I haven't changed my system since - does anyone know what's happening? I'm running almost all projects, my OS is Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated because it seems to be getting worse and at this rate I'll have to suspend the WCG screensaver. Cheers, Michael |

Hi Micheal,
----------------------------------------You might try the "not WCG recommended" BOINC 6.2.19 version. Get it here: http://boincdl.ssl.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.2.19_windows_intelx86.exe It fixes a longer standing screensaver memory leak. I'm running it on 1 test system without any of the most common client issues. Have you noticed it for a particular science like Human Proteome Folding or Nutritious Rice? Can you try without the password for the screensaver activated? ttyl

Sekerob,
Thanks for the quick reply. No, I tried disabling individual projects but it seems to happen with all. The Human Proteome Folding project seems to be particularly bad at the moment though. I don't have the screensaver password activated, it's just set to go back to the normal working desktop when it comes back on. I'll see if there are any other ideas coming up, if not I'll use the link you suggested and let you know if it worked, thank you! Michael |

Getting you Video Card drivers up to snuff might work. We have a Screensaver FAQ in the Start Here forum. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4925#75214
