I just went to pick up a nice monitor for my son who's going to Ohio State University. He needs his computer. This morning an ad came out for a nice monitor (22" flat screen). I was there 15 minutes after they opened, & the TWO they ordered are sold out. His monitor works, but the mask has been permanently magnetized. No amount of degaussing will remove it. Apparently we're going have to deliver that beast, & get another when we see it on sale, & hope we can actually get it.

Ah, the old bait and switch...
Brings back memories. That's one of the ways retail survives. Except for CompUSA I remember irate customers looking like they wanted to punch me after I told them we were out of one of the big items on sale 5 minutes after the doors opened. They spat their curses at me and stormed out every Sunday morning. But I was just the low guy on the totem pole. Maybe they should have ranted at corporate more often and not the little guys making 9 bucks an hour. |
