I have edited the file, removed references to whom it was sent and to what university. Once I saw the process, I used Sendspace where I am registered. The file is at:
----------------------------------------http://www.sendspace.com/file/kisnwf The document starts out with other BOINC projects, but the last half of the ten pages are devoted to WCG projects. I hope that this is somehow useful. If it is not, I will totally understand. |

Thank you for the document. I will try making it shorter and more "marketing" to show the benefits to the organization first (visibility, education of the students, participation in interesting distributed computing experiment) then go to the general spirit such as helping mankind, helping our friends or even ourselves in future, as this project helps to develop specific medical fields and medicine in general. I will post it once completed here, if anybody would do it before, please help us all and post it here. Also, as a side note, WCG have own promotional pages, but they miss that personal touch we can make...

WCG
Hello, I just found an example of adoption of World Community Grid in Clemson University in South Carolina, possibly your could make contact between them and your university: Most computers at universities are under-utilized. For instance, at night when everyone sleeps, the computers are idle,” says Goasguen. “By joining the WCG, we maximize our utilization by virtually donating computers when we don’t use them. In doing so, we contribute to humanitarian causes.” According to IBM, Clemson has been contributing more than four CPU years per day to the WCG’s problem-solving infrastructure. http://www.isgtw.org/?pid=1001404 |

I too am trying to get this implemented on my campus. It would be a great help if there was a generic proposal that could be presented, along with the informational slide show, to get things approved. This proposal would have to detail all facets of WCG, and it's implications on IT on campus.

Getting universities to participate in World Community Grid, either to run research or to allow students, faculty, and staff to participate is a tough proposition.
To that end, we've created the following: A marketing toolkit: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewMarketingToolkit.do Partnership information: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/viewBecomePartner.do Research Proposal Information: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/research/viewSubmitAProposal.do There's even a method for sending out emails to people to teach them about World Community Grid: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/wb/viewInfo...&utm_campaign=winback And we can assist through the Contact Us feature: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/viewContactUs.do If you have a university that is interested in doing something with World Community Grid, but would like to discuss the experience with a university that is participating in World Community Grid, we can help arrange that. If you send us a request for a "reference" check, you must include the names and titles of all people that you wish us to contact. The same holds true for a research project. If you are aware of someone who could genuinely benefit from running their research on World Community Grid, send us their name, title, organization name, contact information and we'll follow up. Whenever we contact someone at your request, they must know who you are and be somewhat familiar with World Community Grid because we will mention your name. |
