Yes, I have read the known issues. Do these issues affect *all* work units? It appears as if it does. The servers being synched and all. Not exactly sure though. Shades of Yoo-Dee! Lot's of down-time.
---------------------------------------- Maybe a good time to deliver on the synching of UD points to Boinc points as well. Remember that issue? Seems as if that has been forgotten. What the hay, it's the weekend. /pours a 'rita Please, no smart comments from the "Peanut Gallery". I can and will bite back to those. Easily. ![]() Anyway, great time to do data backups, flash images, computer maintenance, etc. Edit: Forgot to post that sometimes a bit of humor (humour) is ok every now and zen. ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Johnny Cool at Sep 21, 2008 12:27:10 AM] |

I just got more NRW work, so it doesn't affect all projects.
The Known Issues post says that FightAIDS@Home, Help Conquer Cancer and Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together are affected. |

Now that the Rice thingy is releasing W/U's does anybody know how long it will be until a meaningful Project starts releasing work?

Malnutrition kills more people than any other cause of death.
Would you like to rephrase your question? |

Hi Nite Owl,
No, I would not like to rephrase anything... Super Rice was invented 8 years ago, so what's the point? Any one variety contains a limited set of alleles for each gene. The rice genome is vastly larger and can potentially produce many varieties optimized for different climates, soil types, endemic pests, etc. Trying to use one variety for all circumstances is foolish. (Nightmare when all the fields mature at the same time and have to be harvested.) Of course, I grew up eating rice in the South Carolina low-country, so I am emotionally attracted to projects like NRW. I also read books about growing long-leaf pine trees. Lawrence |

Lawrence After spending over 3 years in Asia I can't stand the sight of the stuff... Plus Anheuser-Busch brews Budweiser from Rice... Nasty stuff... It'll give ya a pounding headache in a heartbeat... ![]() Sooo, Can you or anybody (other than the dynamic Duo) answer my original question? Any idea on when the rest of WCG projects will be released? ![]() |

Of course, I grew up eating rice in the South Carolina low-country, so I am emotionally attracted to projects like NRW. I recently spent several days in Charleston and was fascinated to find out about the rice industry in the Lowlands and the differences to the cotton plantations. It somehow got missed in my education. ![]() |
