Invalid results [ RESOLVED ]

Hello all, I could use some extra brain power to solve a problem... I have one box running Win XP Pro with over 11,000 valid results to it's credit. But suddenly it is returning nothing but invalid results. I reinstalled the latest version of Boinc Manager (6.2.18), reset the project, reseated the cpu and memory, nothing seems to help. I switched that box to a different project, (Poem@home) and it returns 100% successful results. I ran stress tests and memory tests with no errors, it doesn't seem to be hardware related. I really hate to lose my device ID with 11,414 results. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong and how to fix it? or how to reinstall but save my device ID?
Thanks,
Ramjet

Re: Invalid results

First off you should probably go back to 5.10.45, the officiallyl supported BOINC version. From other replies in the forums the 6.2 versions have some spotty results, some succeses and some failures. If that does not solve the problem, you should post your operating system and any changes or updates both software or hardware you may have made. Then brains better than mine can have a go at it. Also see if you can narrow it down to which of the projects may be the troublesome one.

Cheers

Re: Invalid results

Hello Jason1478963,
Go to the Results Status page and click on the Result Name of an invalid work unit and see if there is anything peculiar. Do the Invalid work units end abnormally soon? Does everything look well in the Messages Tab of BOINC Manager?

Thanks for the replies, actually I believe I was running 5.10.20 when the problem first started showing up, I've been updating when they come out to see if solves the problem. It didn't happen all of a sudden, some valids, some invalids, until it was mostly invalids. The project I was working on at the time was Help Conquer Cancer.

Re: Invalid results

Lawrence, thanks for the help wink
I guess it's been a month since I ran a Cancer wu, all the messages and results status data have already dropped off the map. I'll reenable the project and run a few wu's to get some fresh data, and I'll let you know what I find. It will probably be a few days for the results to be validated though.

Ok, two wu's finished with exit status: success. I don't see anything in the messages tab, but both wu's list this in the results status, although they are stilll pending validation: <core_client_version>6.2.18</core_client_version>

Re: Invalid results

Hello Jason1478963,
So far, so good. We are adding XML for eventual use with BOINC 6, ignore it the same way BOINC 5 does.

Re: Invalid results

What does the Results Status page say? Can you filter it for this device and paste the latest results here?

I am particularly interested whether all the WCG projects are affected. If you are exclusively running HCC at present, I suggest running this device with all projects for a while.

Once we have it narrowed down, we can try some more advanced troubleshooting. But be aware - if that fails, our advice will be to deselect the troublesome project.

I can give you what's there, but I only ran 4 wu's, I am running other projects, awaiting validation for those....

Hmm, I guess I'll try to get a couple wu's from another project and see what happens, I know it works fine with Poem@home and Docking@home, but I'd rather run wcg if possible.
