issue with boinc screensaver

Hi to all,

my system is using WinXP Professional, and running perfectly BOINC, but I tried everything to set the screensaver to show the pictures of the projects, with no success, all I have is a black screen with the worldcommunitygrid logo and the name and percentages of the progress of the project.

Is it normal? There is an option to flag to make this appears, as is working in my other pc with WinXP Home?

Neither with the 5.10.45 nor with BOINC 6 have all issues regarding the Screen Saver part been resolved. Certainly with a Service Install you wont be getting any screensaver graphics but the progress info. There is a hack to to get them, but it only works for BOINC 5.10:

Hi,

thanks for the answer, but following the instructions at the link you provided I'm stopping at the step 1: I dont have any "boinc" into services.msc

My version is 5.10.45, why that?

Can you confirm that you did a service install of BOINC 5.10.45 from the WCG web site?

Hi Lawrence,

it's not a service installation, but the standard one (I don't remember the proper name, I'm sorry), downloading the file "boinc.msi" from the WCG site.

Can you view the graphics by opening BOINC Manager and clicking on "Show Graphics"?

Hi,

Try it by removing the password from the screensaver if you use one.

Actually this is a good point, because my computer is part of a network, so I'm logging in and out, using a password.

You think is possible to remove the password just for the screensaver?
