Restart Boinc after changing the xml file so Boinc will pick up the change No need to restart Boinc: as said in the FAQ that _Sunnyboy_ has mentioned you only need to use the 'Advanced' menu > 'Read Config File' to activate the new config file. Cheers. Jean. |

Actually, don't know which client release the problem started, but I've identified a (thought to be) a bug, reported at Berkeley, that some changes do not take effect until restarting BOINC (or stop/restart service). On DDDT or RICE you should be knowing in minutes. Think for now it's not the <log_flaggs> that is effected, just 1 or more of the <options>
----------------------------------------Just tested the reading of the config file menu and it does effectuate the Checkpoint Debug flag (on 6.2.17) functioning.

What I remember as needing a restart of a WU to take effect is the "Write to disk at most xx seconds" parameter which also affects checkpointing. Because the WU gets this value only once when starting or restarting and does not check it every time it is ready to take a checkpoint.

That, I think, takes effect from the start of a new job too. Anyway, how often does one change the 'behavioral' <options>
