If you choose the option not to do work when the computer is in use, in my case it starts after 5 minutes of activity, the WU seems to be crunching fine. However, when the user becomes active you get the status of Suspended - User Active and when it re-starts again it seems to revert to the last saved check point - even if you have set the Remain in Memory function!
----------------------------------------I would expect this if it was set to not remain in memory, but not when it is! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 24, 2008 5:44:53 PM] |

What client version Scribe? There are suspend issues with 6.2. Is boinctray.exe loaded?
----------------------------------------[surely the first line was meant to say "inactive"?]

"seems"....
As you say, it shouldn't. But what makes you suspect it is? Are you sure that the task is in fact left in memory? (Easy enough to check - look for the process while your computer is in use.) |

Cannot really try too much with this WU as I keep losing time reverting back, I will lose another hour if I do...will wait till this clears (91%) and try with the next....

Tried Experiment.
One the machine I am typing with now(mine) it is set to leave in memory and if I 'snooze' it and unsnooze, everything is as you would expect. Changing to not leave in memory then doing the same, it reverts back to checkpoint when unsnoozed. Again as you would expect and everything seems fine. On the machine in question (son's) it will revert to last check point no matter what the leave in memory says, when you use the snooze or the user inactive choice. Any suggestions? |

Clear the local prefs, go to the website profile it is attached to, make any change, but a change and verify the LIM is on, save and force an update on the client to transfer a fresh website prefs set.... and upgrade to 5.10.45.

The most common cause of this is that your active preferences are different to what you think they are. Do you have an override file?
Another possibility is that you have insufficient memory for the task to be kept in memory when idle. Do you have checkpoint logging turned on, or are you guessing about the checkpoints? Turning on a few logging flags would give us a much better idea what is happening. |

Trying another experiment first, trying to see if it is just the 'current' WU that is the problem. Suspended that one and tried both another FAAH and DDDT for a few minutes to see the effect of the snooze button - as you would expect, perfect behavior, but may be I did not let it run long enough...will wait a few more minutes.
The other thought is maybe if you start a VU with the setting NOT to keep in memory, then change to YES keep in memory, update project to get new settings, then maybe it will not take effect because it started the other way....comments? |
