Welcome to all the refugees from Rosetta and Seti

With the server problems at Seti, and Rosetta being out of work for the first time in recent memory. . .

I would like to extend a cordial welcome to all the displaced refugees.

Maybe with their spare computer cycles, we can get the 200Mth WCG result before the PrimeGrid 'Dog Days of Summer' Challenge begins on the 22nd.

Re: Welcome to all the refugees from Rosetta and Seti

A small by-line from PG

ATTENTION: The primality program LLR is CPU intensive; so, it is vital to have a stable system with good cooling. It does not tolerate "even the slightest of errors."

Just that you know why the WCG throttle is default at 60% except for the Maximum Output crunching profile when it is the Days of Only Dogs and Englishmen.

My quad goes cooking over 2 of their smallest Sieve jobs and it has water cooling and a wall of 4 extra 12cm fans. That's why I've set them if I do at 50% with ThreadMaster GUI.

LoL

(think SETI was back up btw from what i read at my team forum).

Re: Welcome to all the refugees from Rosetta and Seti

LLR is not a WCG project, it belongs to PrimeGrid. Maybe it means a LongLastingResult ;>)

[Edit: Many of these Prime search projects, it means Lucas-Lehmer-Riesel, a type of algorithm developed by these gents)

Rosetta seems to be generating a few workunits now, just not enough to keep up with the demand. I got one last night, and the last I looked, one more was available.

just kidding, no such project smile

this thread reminds me, i was looking at wikipedia here and saw absolutely no mention of the controversy that happened at the end:
