Okay,
----------------------------------------Sometimes is can take a minute for the graphics to appear. - Is the actual graphics frame appearing, but empty? - Did it show before? - Is the graphics button normal or greyed? - If yes, when you installed BOINC, did you choose service or protected option? - What BOINC version? Recently updated? - What OS and have you booted lately and did you make any system changes? Just a few semi random questions to start.

don't know what run sh file does, but given the graphics button is not greyed things should be working. If though there is insufficient video ram or the display drivers, specifically open gl are not up to the latest it might be you are not getting to see them. As you never saw FAAH graphics before it is reasonable to assume it is something on your system.
----------------------------------------So a short google and some crooked inglish on my part pulled up a topic discussing a possible answer why the button is not greyed, yet no picture appears: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boinc/+bug/72192 It says "Additionally, you need to call "xhost +si:localuser:boinc" to allow the local boinc user accessing your DISPLAY." WCG gets actually a mention in there for FAAH. Hope it helps

How did you install BOINC?
The best way is to use Synaptic to install boinc-client and boinc-manager. |

You may want to try reinstalling using Synaptic. That will create the boinc user and set everything up for you.
