Some of us refer in these fora to our fellow WCG members as "guys" (eg Sekerob , petehardy in Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change ).
----------------------------------------I interpret "guys" as referring to males, as opposed to "gals". I wonder whether female members feel as though they are being ignored when authors do this? It seems to me like a small offence, but I ask myself whether, when I say or write "guys" I then unconsciously colour the rest of my message as though I am addressing a male-only audience. After a lifetime of repeatedly feeling offended by such things, some females in the not-so-distant past have become so angry that they've burnt their bra's! !!Being politically correct, in English at least, is often a PITA, but perhaps we should use other terms here like "people", "fellow* crunchers", "greetings all" , ... What do you think? *fellow might also be considered male-only, but I use it to mean peer. "Cruncher peers" seems to be going too far. As I said, a PITA. Edit: (I have read replies from Sek & Pete). I'm happy to use "guys" to include everybody but I wondered how others feel, especially girls/women. Unless someone objects, let's continue as we are doing. Rickjb,
----------------------------------------Since you drew in my name directly, personally, I would not want nor will dictate anyone (overly) political correctness. We have forum rules and long as everyone respects those rules I think we can live with each other. ciao

Rickjb,
----------------------------------------It seems to me, at least here in the USA that both males and females refer to each other as "you guys", especially when they're referring to a mixed group. I could use the word "People", but I think it sounds a bit unfriendly. Pete ![]() "Patience is a virtue", I can't wait to learn it! |
