re: BOINC: Estimated Tasks "Time To Complete" Are Totally Wrong

Sekerob,

Thank you very much for the following forum entry.

BOINC: Estimated Tasks "Time To Complete" Are Totally Wrong

Seems a reasonable approach.

This appears to also create a deterministic distribution for the target clients and with luck place similar kinds of work onto clients with similar performance characteristics.

Is this one of the goals here; or; is it more to just get the run times of each of the WU's stabilized any client can successfully complete any WU dispatched to that client?

Thanks again.

Thanks again.

2 birds with 1 stone, but spare stones being readied in case other birds were missed.

PS, the link is dead now.... it was the concept you jumped onto ;>)

Honest, no stones..

Even the best intentions sometimes become skewed because of unforeseen events.

Yes, you can pitch the stone at the birds, however, should the birds depart prior the stone's arrival.... the likelihood of getting the bird(s) decreases as the birds become farther and farther away from the initial intercept point. wink

Do I hear the possiblity for a new WCG project? When you throw the stone with certain force and angle, how likely is it to hit the bird? biggrin
