As suspected it's not your web prefs, but your global_prefs_override.xml, speak local prefs. Compare the lines and see that local says:
----------------------------------------<disk_max_used_gb>0.100000</disk_max_used_gb> Which BOINC from decimal translates to that what computers understand as 100,000,000, which is 0.09gb. Just clear the prefs and you should be fine. Next time when you visit the local prefs they show the values from the website, until you type over them.

One thing I want to remind is that 0.09GB limit is proper setting for me, so even if it is tentatively cleared, I would set the same after the problem clears. If you set it back to the same limit you will face the same problem. You should reasonably rise it to at least 0.2 GB to be safe, assuming you are not also asking for a big buffer of "ready to start" WUs. This parameter defines how much disk storage Boinc is authorized to use in total, i.e. its programs, control files, libraries, the science applications, plus data files for each WU received and not yet reported. When this limit is reached Boinc cannot allocate or grow any new file for collecting the results of the computation and it can only stop working. If you were short of free disk storage I could understand that you be very conservative, but this is not the case, so let it work. Cheers. Jean. |

e23385,
----------------------------------------Bluntly, at 0.09gb or just less than 100mb allowed use by BOINC you wont likely get work. Here is the WCG system requirements page: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq At most you might get a RICE or HCC job, if selected, but lacking disk space allowance, chances are that on your dual core computer only 1 job at the time will be processed continuously.

JmBoullier and Sekerob, thank you so much.
I understood and cleared my local preferences. Now it seems to be working well. 2008/08/05 18:29:10||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 01-Aug-2008 18:57:58) 2008/08/05 18:29:10||Host location: none 2008/08/05 18:29:10||General prefs: using your defaults 2008/08/05 18:29:10||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 766.77MB 2008/08/05 18:29:10||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 920.12MB 2008/08/05 18:29:10||Preferences limit disk usage to 9.31GB 2008/08/05 18:29:11||Resuming computation 2008/08/05 18:29:11||Resuming network activity 2008/08/05 18:29:11|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Thank you for your advice, but I'm afraid I cannot edit the title of an existing post... I tried but I couldn't find any buttons or clickables for that operation, nor relevant instructions in Help. Are there any further suggestions?

You have to click on the Edit icon at the left of the title of the post.
----------------------------------------In this particular case you have to do it for the very first post of this thread. In case you missed it the title you have to append with [RESOLVED] is in a separate field above the formatting icons. Cheers. Jean. |
