Hello, everyone.
----------------------------------------I got an email message from WCG that says "you have not returned a result since May 28, 2008", which surprised me because I was pretty sure that my BONIC agent have been running successfully. Anyway I checked my BONIC log and found strange messages. It says "Nutritious Rice for the World needs 1.47MB more disk space. You currently have 30.53 MB available and it needs 32.00 MB.", although, as cited from BONIC log below, my free disk space is totally sufficient. 2008/07/30 9:53:00||Disk: 57.97 GB total, 28.82 GB free 2008/07/30 9:53:00||Preferences limit disk usage to 0.09GB I could not find information relevant to this situation from this forum, so please help me what to do. Hello e23385!
----------------------------------------The quickest solution to fix your problem is to go to your "default" profile and to reset it to maximum performance: - Display your My Grid page - Click on "Device Manager" in the leftmost column - Click on "Default" in the Selected Profile column. - Select the "Maximum output" radio button - Go to the bottom of the screen and click "Save". Once it is done go to BoincMgr in your machine and - select the advanced view - select the project tab - select the WCG project line - click the "Update" button. New work should start to come down. Later on you may go back to your "default" profile if you want and check if any of the maximum output settings might be a problem for you, but be careful with parameters in the "Disk usage" section .If all this does not give positive results please tell us how your free disk space (28.82 GB) is split between your logical disks. Cheers. Jean. |

Hello, JmBoullier.
Thank you for your reply. I operated according to your advice, and then it seems that error messages have disappeared. 2008/08/01 19:00:09|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. I think I'm going to see how it goes for a while. |

I think not, as the disk limit still shows as 0.09GB and the work request continues at zero seconds. Probably your website device profile settings are okay. The log does say that they were modified today.
----------------------------------------2008/08/01 19:00:14||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 01-Aug-2008 18:57:58) But, you still use the overrides, speak the local preferences 2008/08/01 19:00:14||Reading preferences override file which you need to clear to return system sanity. Go to the BOINCmgr as before, Advanced menu and Preferences and hit the Clear button right top and save. Look in message log for what happens next. ttyl [Edit: Can you please find the global_prefs.xml file on your disk in Data directory: D:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid\BOINC and post the content. That will tell us what your active settings are in detail. Also the content of global_prefs_override.xml (which should have cleared per the previous requested action).

"Maximum output" doesn't affect the disk space settings.
But, as Sekerob says, clear the override first before we worry about that. |

"Maximum output" doesn't affect the disk space settings. Didactylos, while I am anchoring this in my brain can you please state if it is the same for all other performance presets for profiles. I would guess "yes" but I prefer if I have not to guess. @E23385. Sorry I have jumped over the "preferences override" line this morning. Cheers. Jean. |

Jean, yes. These are the only affected preferences: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17033

Didactylos, thank you!

That link was posted 3x in the last 24 hours, to include 2x by a CA for a CA.

Thank you, Sekerob, and all.
Here are the contents of global_prefs.xml, global_prefs_override.xml, and This morning's BONIC log. I have not done "clear" operation yet. I appreciate it if you advise me again if I should do "clear". One thing I want to remind is that 0.09GB limit is proper setting for me, so even if it is tentatively cleared, I would set the same after the problem clears. Also, my BONIC client have been running in screen saver mode only so far since it was the previous version, because I prefer so. I believe the current version should have succeeded that setting. ---------------------------------- global_prefs.xml <global_preferences> <source_project>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/</source_project> <source_scheduler>https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/w...</source_scheduler> <mod_time>1217584678</mod_time> <cpu_scheduling_period_minutes>120</cpu_scheduling_period_minutes> <disk_interval>60.0</disk_interval> <disk_max_used_gb>10.0</disk_max_used_gb> <disk_max_used_pct>50.0</disk_max_used_pct> <disk_min_free_gb>0.5</disk_min_free_gb> <end_hour>0</end_hour> <idle_time_to_run>3.0</idle_time_to_run> <max_bytes_sec_down>0.0</max_bytes_sec_down> <max_bytes_sec_up>0.0</max_bytes_sec_up> <max_cpus>16</max_cpus> <net_end_hour>0</net_end_hour> <net_start_hour>0</net_start_hour> <run_if_user_active/> <start_hour>0</start_hour> <cpu_usage_limit>100.0</cpu_usage_limit> <ram_max_used_busy_pct>75.0</ram_max_used_busy_pct> <ram_max_used_idle_pct>90.0</ram_max_used_idle_pct> <vm_max_used_pct>75.0</vm_max_used_pct> <work_buf_min_days>0.2</work_buf_min_days> <work_buf_additional_days>0.3</work_buf_additional_days> <suspend_if_no_recent_input>0.0</suspend_if_no_recent_input> <leave_apps_in_memory/> </global_preferences> ---------------------------------- global_prefs_override.xml <global_preferences> <run_on_batteries>0</run_on_batteries> <run_if_user_active>0</run_if_user_active> <idle_time_to_run>1.000000</idle_time_to_run> <start_hour>0.000000</start_hour> <end_hour>0.000000</end_hour> <net_start_hour>0.000000</net_start_hour> <net_end_hour>0.000000</net_end_hour> <disk_max_used_gb>0.100000</disk_max_used_gb> <cpu_usage_limit>60.000000</cpu_usage_limit> </global_preferences> ---------------------------------- This morning's BONIC log 2008/08/04 9:31:11||Starting BOINC client version 5.10.45 for windows_intelx86 2008/08/04 9:31:11||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 2008/08/04 9:31:11||Libraries: libcurl/7.18.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8e zlib/1.2.3 2008/08/04 9:31:11||Data directory: D:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid\BOINC 2008/08/04 9:31:12||Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2500 @ 2.00GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 8] 2008/08/04 9:31:12||Processor features: fpu tsc pae sse sse2 mmx 2008/08/04 9:31:12||OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional Edition, Service Pack 2, (05.01.2600.00) 2008/08/04 9:31:12||Memory: 1022.36 MB physical, 2.40 GB virtual 2008/08/04 9:31:12||Disk: 57.97 GB total, 28.75 GB free 2008/08/04 9:31:12||Local time is UTC +9 hours 2008/08/04 9:31:13|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 540096; location: (none); project prefs: default 2008/08/04 9:31:13||General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 01-Aug-2008 18:57:58) 2008/08/04 9:31:13||Host location: none 2008/08/04 9:31:13||General prefs: using your defaults 2008/08/04 9:31:13||Reading preferences override file 2008/08/04 9:31:13||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 766.77MB 2008/08/04 9:31:13||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 920.12MB 2008/08/04 9:31:13||Preferences limit disk usage to 0.09GB 2008/08/04 9:31:16||Suspending network activity - user is active |
