confused Author Titles?

Just Curious?? Whenever I visit the forums authors in the various posts appear to have titles such as cruncher, senior cruncher, master cruncher, veteran cruncher, etc...
I don't find anywhere in the profiles where these titles are set so how are they assigned/derived? thinking
