Hi I'm trying to install the software WCG-Bonic Agent on my Windows Vista Machine. The install finished and when the program was starting, the computer froze. After rebooting, I opened the software and worked but, I didn't asked for my user account info. So I unistalled the software and the following error appears: ERROR 1316: A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\Bonic.msi. Then I try to install again and during the install process it stops and I get the following error:Internal Error 2356. Data1.cab.. The installation process stops and the program doesn't install. What can be done to successfully install the software again ?
Thank You in advance |

Hello JOHN A LUCENA,
----------------------------------------Something unusual went wrong with your install. So lets experiment. Uninstall what you can. If that leaves you with a BOINC subdirectory, delete it. Then reboot. Then try installing a different installer package at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php Then let us know what happens. With details, if it does not work. Lawrence Added: Here is the Start Here post on running BOINC on Vista - http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=12856 It does not explain your installer error, but it solves other problems. John, the WCG installation doesn't ask for your account details. It sounds like you had a perfectly working installation.

the exact same thing is happening to me -- I tried installing from Berkeley -- and also get an internal error.
