After a longer hiatus ++ I started running RICE again on the Vista quad with lines appearing as per the post title. Given that the long weekend will not produce an answer from the technicians and absent interest to crunch results that after 8 hours each turn from Pending Validation to Invalid or Error, can anyone confirm if s/he's seen the below entries in result logs. If so, have these results gone to a valid state? If they turned into Valid, did the credit versus claim look very anomalous?
----------------------------------------Unrecognized XML in parse_init_data_file: computation_deadline Skipping: 1216101578.600000 Skipping: /computation_deadline wcg_seed 1030415355 The first 3 lines are always the same appearing about 3 - 4 time per result, often before the first seed, where latter value is always different. It's almost as if there is a time restriction on the seed and if taking too long it being aborted to move on to the next. ++ The hiatus was because the RICE jobs previously most always crashed after the 3rd seed. Thanks in advance for checking/confirming.

Just when I hit enter and checked the results list did one with the above messages in the result log turn into valid with 7+% more credit than claimed.

A new field has been added to the init_data.xml file that is stored locally in the 'slot' directory for each workunit being processed. This field contains the deadline for the workunit.
We are looking into the future and realized that due to the nature of both the Nutritious Rice for the World and Human Proteome Folding - Phase II, those projects could be implemented so that if they are approaching their deadline, then they could simply exit and return the structures computed so far. This would be very helpful to people with slower computers or computers that are not on very often. However, the deadline for the workunit was not available via the BOINC api for the research application. We requested that BOINC add this to the API. They have done this for the BOINC client. The message that you see below is benign message and can be ignored. The next time that we update each of the research applications, this message will go away. Please note that at this time - we have not implemented this code in any of the research applications - we are simply planning for the future and needed to get this into the next version of the client. |
