Team IBM Rochester uploaded 14,057,637 points yesterday. It is horrible.
Ther are increasing magically...We need to launch a movement of recruiting to prevail them by all means. Think about some new countries, such as Russia, Japan, Brazil and even Nepal... ![]() |

This team is pretty much a 1 person show. The point leader is Mike Meyers, he as 8 million of the teams 14 million points. This person runs the e-Server competetive benchmark lab at IBM Rochester, MN. As you can see from his profile, he has access to over 350 current technology Server class machines that can run the grid. This is all IBM owned equipment. This is all very good for the Grid as a whole. The only way to compete with that amount of hardware is to recruit 500 more people with PC class machines.
We are finding success through acquiring many low cost Laptops and a couple of number crunchers. There is definelty a price / grid perfromance breakpoint. (Not exaclty sure what that is) We can aquire 3-4 older laptops for less money than 1 high powered PC and get more points. If you look at the Slash-Dot team, it is the shear volume of members each doing a small amount of work. We are luckly to now have thier highest point person. They are still putting up 4x the number of points per day than the second place team. So goes the power of the grid. I agree with dtype. If you really want this team to move up, MOT will have to recruit many more members. Perhaps we should have a membership drive. First place, an authographed picture of Graham next to his favorite crucher. (Just a thought) ![]() For now, we will just do our part and help the MOT keep moving up or hold thier position. |

Joel --
When I read your post, another thing that a number of us have done that makes it easier to navigate through long threads such as our team thread is that we have set the number of posts per page high in our profiles. To do this, go to your member profile at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/myprofile and select "Change my Information". About seven lines down you will see "Posts Per page". I have mine set at 50 which makes this thread about 9 pages. When you have selected the value you want, don't forget to go to the bottom of the screen and press "Edit my information" to exit. Your team mate, |

For now, we will just do our part and help the MOT keep moving up or hold thier position. What??? Holding our position?? Stop chasing Ripcat ??? No way !!! |

To all my team mates
----------------------------------------Just to let you know I am still doing my part to increase the membership count for the World Community Grid and My Online Team Original reply from my First Article to ECT News From: "Susan B. Shor" ECT News Network www.ectnews.com Sent: Monday, February 14, 2005 4:00 PM Subject: Follow-up story on Worldwide Grid Hi Graham, My editor forwarded your email on the grid back to me. Happy Valentine's Day He agreed a follow-up would be a good idea. Can you answer a few questions? Do you know where this grid ranks in participation compared to other grid projects? Why did you become so involved? Is the Human Proteome Folding project proceeding at the pace researchers would like or do they need more grid participants? What else do you think I should know about the grid project and its participants? Thank you, Susan B. Shor ECT News Network www.ectnews.com All relevant information sent (awaiting story to be published) Follow up Message From: Graham A. Hood Sent: Monday, February 21, 2005 4:33 AM To: Susan B.
