Thread: How to submit WU immediately after completion? |

Instead of clicking on the 'Update' button to submit the finished WUs I want the software to automatically send the finished WU, when it finds that an internet connection is active.
I cant wait for the software to submit the WUs just before the deadline date, bcoz there's a chance that the laptop which has the WCG software, wont be connected to the internet around the deadline, in which case all the work will be wasted. |

The reason why this Ready to Report clearing (part 2 of the reporting cycle) is not done immediately is to help maintain best Server Scheduler efficiency. With BOINC version 6 there will be a feature to push which is designed for those that use a daily re-imaging of the disk (Deep-Freeze) so they wont loose completed results, but otherwise, unless there is a paramount must, please don't use. The result will be reported within 24 hours of completion or with the first time work is fetched after completion of a task or if the deadline is within 24 hours, whatever comes first.

Hello geoffrey_philip,
----------------------------------------I will add to Sekerob's explanation. The result file is returned immediately. Ready to Report (explained in Start Here) just means that a report will be made to the Scheduler telling it that the result has already been returned. This low priority report will be sent off within 24 hours. Just ignore it. The Scheduler will do a long slow database update when the report arrives. BOINC delays sending the report in hope that several more work units will finish before the report is made, which will let the database do several updates simultaneously.
