Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any documentation anywhere that might help me with automating the installation of BOINC onto a newly imaged machine and furthermore attaching automatically to the WCG project and inputting member credentials. Any and all information that is useful for automating any part of the process is appreciated. I think automating the actual installation of the BOINC agent shouldn't be to much of a problem, but the next pieces seems to prove a bit more formidable. Mainly looking for a way to do this on Windows operating systems (namely XP, 2003, 2008, and Vista), but also curious on how to automate the process on linux as well (namely Red Hat, SLES, and Fedora). -Cheers |

E.g. start learning about Boinccmd and scripting the different commands to pass the url, membername, password, accountkey and more.

but also curious on how to automate the process on linux as well (namely Red Hat, SLES, and Fedora). Look at Linux RPM Install for these. For Windows your best bet would still be Grid Republic, I think.

I need to revise the documents referred to here, but the FAQ "Is there an easy way to install the grid agent to multiple devices or across a network?"
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=install#106 Will give you a good start. |
