Can I use the device ID assigned to a machine after reinstalling the whole system? Or do I always get a new device ID? And is it possible to delete these old devices without loosing the stats from these devices?

Can I use the device ID assigned to a machine after reinstalling the whole system? Or do I always get a new device ID? And is it possible to delete these old devices without loosing the stats from these devices? Hi Markus, Do not worry about the device ID. This is what you should do: Give your computer a new device name while registering the new setup, but use your old account name. The grid will believe that you have TWO systems working for you, and you thus will NOT lose any of your previous achievements. The next thing you do when everything has been set up, is to go into your profile and delete the old device setup. So, as you see, there's nothing to worry about. I hope this helps. Good luck and keep 'm crunching! EDIT: Actually, I think you might even be able to reuse the old device name for the newly installed machine. The grid uses the Device Name to identify you and your machine making the connection. Anyway, still nothing to be worried about as long as you reuse your old account name (your old profile, if you will). Hi Markus Gieser, adding to FreeBee's comment, there is another whole option that you could do. I have done it before, so I know it works. Right before you are about to wipe out the computer, you close wcg. Then you copy the entire WCG directory into backup. After that, you reinstall windows, or whatever. Then, you install WCG from the install program. Now, when it asks to login, just close it. Then, restore the backup of the directory. Have it overwrite everything. Then, when you start WCG, magically, it starts right where you left off! It's like nothing ever happened! However, this does take a bit of work, but I'm sure it is worth the effort. I have heard when it didn't go right where it left off... the WU got terminated, however it just got a new one and continued from there. However, the device id stays the same! I hope this helps.
