I am confused. I have downloaded and installed the client. After running it, it starts downloading something from the server. I have a sloooow connection and therefore have to close it down after some hours ??? Will it start downloading the thing from that point onwards or it will begin from the beginning. Please

Sorry for the trouble I created, maybe I panicked. Now my tasks are running smoothly. But my question remains unanswered.

Work units vary in size. The last one I watched download to my machine was 1.1 megabytes but I have seen them as small as 600K. Unless you are downloading the Rosetta program itself, I would be surprised if a download even got close to 2 megabytes.

I had a program a couple of years ago that would remember where a download left off and continue it at that point. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the program, maybe someone else here will.
I find it helps to turn off my computer for a few minutes before starting a large download. A slow dialup connection can be a problem, and it seems to me better to start with a fresh computer. I also close any of my hog programs....LOL I attempted a search of microsofts site without any luck. You might have better luck with this!! ![]() |

There are a lot of download programs that will start up again later at some checkpoint if the connection is broken. However, this is probably not appropriate for us since the server will hand the work unit to somebody else if the Agent does not acknowledge receipt. Also, we will not be changing our current client for Windows until sometime after we get a new client designed for Linux (and probably Mac OS X). I suspect that we will have fun checking out changes and suggestions with a client we can reprogram for a while before we port it back to Windows.
