Hello,
Yesterday due to a misfucntionning program I had to revert to a 8 days old system backup from my NAS backup ystem.... So I did reinstall the system partition where program files and Windows are installed (and Word Community programs as well). I wonder in such a case what happens to the works that was on progress at the moment the system had to be reinstalled ?... Are old results and old calculations send again to the server ? Or are the work tasks immediatly updated and everything continues normally ?... I worry because the server is waiting for results but it could receive old ones (the ones that where on the system at the time it was backuped and reinstall few days or months after) :-( Thanks for clarifications on this point... |

Hello fparlant,
----------------------------------------In the Advanced view of BOINC Manager, select the Tasks tab, then select each old task and 'Abort' it. The server will send you new work units. It is a waste of time to crunch old work units a second time. Hope your system does not give you more trouble. Lawrence Added: Sekerob remembered it! Use Update in Project tab. I tried to remember, but shrugged and gave up. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 12, 2008 8:14:12 AM] |

Think we had a recent discussion on this. Hit the Update button in the Projects Tab after selecting WCG and the server knows and tells the client that they are out of step. The automatic action would be to remove any redundant work.
----------------------------------------Can't remember this moment since when it happened I was flipping versions between production and alphas installs back and forth, but at one point in time the log showed something like 'retrieving lost results' or similar and it pulled work across that I previous received on one of the installs, but had not started yet. Demonstrated to me the system keeps very well track of what there should and should not be on the client.
WCG
