I have a PPC Mac running OSX 10.4 (Tiger) and an Intel Mac running OSX 10.5 (Leopard). On both Macs, the Finder's built-in unzipper barfs (after using 100% CPU for 1-2 minutes) when trying to unzip either http://boincdl.ssl.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.10.45_macOSX_universal.zip or http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.2.6_macOSX_universal.zip.
Fortunately, /usr/bin/unzip can successfully unzip the both ZIP files. But non-"power users" would never be able to figure that out. On my Intel Leopard Mac, I can install and run BOINC correctly. On my PPC Tiger Mac, the BOINC Installer fails on the last step with a generic error message: "There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again." thanks, chris |

Hello cpeterso,
You ought to report this directly to BOINC. Here is the relevant BOINC forum: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_forum.php?id=10 Lawrence |

The BOINC developers were not aware of any Mac OS X bugs like mine. But I just downloaded BOINC for a third time and, for some reason, everything worked correctly!
I think my downloads had corrupted the ZIP file or something.. thanks, chris |
