... So far I have tried to reinstall DirectX from Microsoft webpage. It didn't help. It is a single user installation. What about your graphics card drivers ? |

Symantec has caused problems in the past. Have a look at what programs it is blocking.

I've tried to update drivers but it has no effect. I have Mobile Intel 965 chipset. I just shows WCG logo and the text about loading, than blinks project graphics (Cancer) or it goes straight to black.
Regarding Symantec: I can not be 100% sure if it blocks something, but I had the same antivirus on the previous notebook where screensaver worked fine. |

Can you bring up the screensaver as a preview when going into Control Panel and Display Properties?
If not, can you bring up any of the other screensavers ? If you can, do you have your "Do work while computer is in use?" pref set to "No" in boincmgr (ie unticked). If it is not ticked, tick it and then go to the Projects tab and select WCG and Update just to make sure  Also check the ScreenSaver setting "On resume, password protect"/"On Resume, show Welcome Screen" (depending on how your windows are set up). If it is ticked, try unticking it and previewing. Let us know how you get on. |

I have tried everything you suggest but with no success.
 Going through that FAQ i ended at the "If you can't see graphics in this window, you have a problem with your video card." I can see the graphics window, but it dissapear within a second or two. Is there any possibility configure BOINC not to show graphics, but to show at least the text version? It is shame it doesn't work on a new notebook after it worked on the three years old one (the same brand), but the text mode will show at least something. |

The BOINC screensaver text version only, which is what you get if you install the client as Service aka in Protected mode under BOINC 6, moi and probably others have expressed as desirable option. Takes less resource and is still informative.

Are there any drawbacks? Just that you don't see pretty graphics but you are using more of your system resources to crunch which is the most important thing after all |
