I found a weird sort of bug.
----------------------------------------Tested repeatedly with BOINC 6.2.6 and 6.2.7 + Firefox 2.0.0.14 Close all browser windows. Open BOINC Manager->Advanced View->Tasks Select the (running or not) WCG task you have. Click the My Grid button. Firefox will start up and point to http://www.worldcommunitygrid.orghttp//www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg giving an error as it cannot load that page. Subsequent clicking of My Grid will open My Grid in a new tab (normal). Close Firefox complete, repeat, and end up at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.orghttp//www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg again. I've dumped my browser cache and it still happens. The link in account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml points to http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyMemberPage.do so I don't know what's causing the other link jumble.

Hmm, now every other button I click opens up the main page at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.php instead of the button I click (Global statistics, Result status, Device profiles, Research, Help). Forums opens forums.
----------------------------------------Probably a weird caching thing here. Still, that doesn't explain why My Grid opens the jumble URL. ![]()

Bug reproduced with 5.10.45.
This is probably a BOINC bug. Can you confirm that? |

See post by nelsoc yesterday on same as what was discussed at the Berkeley fora about the pref.button help link not working. Far as I know WCG can change/add/remove left margin buttons and their link function anytime which on client side would get updated on next contact.
----------------------------------------On 5.10.30 I cannot replicate. Jump properly to my grid page in Firefox as defined default browser. a. when already logged in, opens my grid directly b. when signed out, brings up sign in screen, which after entry, open My Grid too. c. when browser is closed and cookies/cache clean, same same, properly opens FF and shows sign in screen.

See above, same machine running 6.2.4, behavior entirely normal with FF 3 beta 5

This is probably a BOINC bug. Can you confirm that? Not after seeing Rob's post. I don't think anything changed in that respect between 5.10.30 and 6.2.7 I wonder if it only does this with Firefox (2.0.0.14). Which browsers are you two using? And are those browsers set as default in the browser and the OS? Could it have to do with the statistics being updated at this moment here at WCG, so you can't even log in on My grid?

I had this happen several times recently using BoincView 1.4.2 and Firefox 3 RC1. It doesn't matter which link I choose either as it can happen with any of the links. I thought it was a bug in BoincView, but apparently it is boinc.
----------------------------------------Edit: I need to correct my previous statement. It doesn't happen with any of the links. I have only noticed it on the My Grid, Results Status, and Device Profiles links. [Edit 1 times, last edit by BobCat13 at Jun 1, 2008 7:19:28 PM] |

Just tried through BOINCview and all works well except the long broken preferences in the 1.5.b8 version. BV has not been maintained for a very long time, so expect for more things to break using that tool. @Jord, just fetched the 6.2.6 test client and again cannot replicate. Service install, full access all users.

I'll put it on the Alpha list, you never know, perhaps someone else knows what's causing this.
