Should the limits ( once again?) to be raised ?!? Or are those WU's faulty etc ?!

Re: Multiple "file exceeds size limit" -errors

I suspect the limit needs raising. I passed this on to the techs for action.

Re: Multiple "file exceeds size limit" -errors

A computer running DDD-T yesterday froze a couple of times. After two reboots I aborted the workunit after 3 hours of run time, after it started over again. It didn't seem like a checkpoint thing. Others don't seem to be having much luck with it either. Other DDD-T workunits before and since have been valid but this one could have been different in some way.

Re: Multiple "file exceeds size limit" -errors

Retsof,

The other two computers completed the result correctly for your workunit. I don't know what is going on there. Let us know if you see it on other workunits.

Re: Multiple "file exceeds size limit" -errors

Others finished correctly, and the computers have shifted to rice for awhile.

It could have been soon after a Microsoft update, so things were a little flaky for awhile. It seemed to settle down the next day.

Re: Multiple "file exceeds size limit" -errors

I just received two file exceeds size limit errors, where the file is only a little (7% & 15%) over the limit:

03-Jun-2008 21:15:31 [World Community Grid] Computation for task dddt0402c0175_100246_0 finished

Is there any mitigation? I will opt out of the project until I hear an update.

Thank you,
Tommy

Hi Tommy,

What BOINC version are u using and can you please post the message lines that tell the exact size excess, something like 71.56mb allowed, 72.6 mb needed

Sorry, 'professional' blindness. The newer version gave it in mb, this shows it in bytes.

Even 1mb will cause things to end btw.
cheers

Re: Multiple "file exceeds size limit" -errors

I'm using BOINC 5.10.45. Both of these errors occurred on a WinXP SP2 machine.

It is a challenge to read the file size numbers, especially with the number of bytes printed as a floating point number with six decimal places. That's why I added the percentages over the limit.

Thanks,
Tommy
