[RESOLVED] Can an upload be deferred until a broadband connection is available?

I am a first time user and completed my first task. I am running on Windows XP Professional and currently am connected via dialup. My upload attempts fail with the following error:

5/17/2008 8:11:17 PM|World Community Grid|Started upload of ls777_00025_11_0
5/17/2008 8:17:55 PM|World Community Grid|Temporarily failed upload of ls777_00025_11_0: http error
5/17/2008 8:17:55 PM|World Community Grid|Backing off 30 min 37 sec on upload of ls777_00025_11_0

Assuming this is due to the limitations of my dialup connection, is it possible to selectively suspend an upload of my task results and restart it when a broadband connection is available? (I have a wireless laptop with WIFI support).

Jim

Re: Can an upload be deferred until a brodband connection is available?

In the activity tab of the advanced boinc view, there is a line to suspend network activity. No problem.

http error? Something's not right. I'm not sure about this error, since I used dialup for years on these projects. It is from something else. We may need some more messages. I wonder whether something farther down is more critical.

Let it try a couple of more times since it was temporary. Somebody else earlier had something like that, but farther down it was complaining about peer certificates.

That can be a proxy error.

Otherwise, for him, it could have been a linux/debian problem.

The only project that doesn't work with dialup is African Climate, but that one is wrapping up. It checks the connection speed.

Re: Can an upload be deferred until a brodband connection is available?

Good news! - the upload succeeded on the third or fourth retry:

5/17/2008 8:48:33 PM|World Community Grid|Started upload of ls777_00025_11_0
5/17/2008 8:59:07 PM|World Community Grid|Finished upload of ls777_00025_11_0

Thanks for the suspend info.

How about editing the title line of that first message again, and adding the word [RESOLVED]?

Thanks.
