Re: Nutritious Rice for the World - Badge hunters alert?

For one thing you can't take one day result and apply that from this point forward.

You are absolutely right - I didn't mean to predict when the project finishes. It was just meant as a "worst case" scenario for badge hunters - they should not be taken by surprise if the project ends earlier than everyone expects. But as I pointed out as well, even if you take the AVERAGE of results returned in NRW and assume this to be the rate until the project end, this would be July 2010, not 2011. I am, however, still waiting for a good explanation why my assumtion is completely wrong nerd

Regards,
Martin

Re: Nutritious Rice for the World - Badge hunters alert?

106,008 results returned yesterday - this looks like a new record for NRW, 178% above average... applause

Also, almost 85 CPU years yesterday, which is more than 30% of the overall CPU time contributed in WCG, whereas it would be about 17% if the CPU time would be equally shared between the 6 active projects. NRW seems to be in special focus for some people.

Regards,
Martin

Re: Nutritious Rice for the World - Badge hunters alert?

I to am starting to focus on Rice as ending realitively soon and close to Saphire in the other 3 projects I have focused on the last half dozen weeks. Interesting to see how we shift our focus, we badge hunters.

Yesterday the total CPU years passed the 20,000 mark. We're about now getting into the last 3rd of the project (in work terms)... some 10,000 more years to do.

Re: Nutritious Rice for the World - Crunching Chart

At noon we passed 25,000,000 (Twenty Five Million) Results, maybe another 8-10 million to go. All depends on how many seeds we continue to complete in a set of 19.

Forward we go for more Nutritious Rice breeds, ASAP

Not far from the end, an intermediate milestone... 27,500,000 results validated for the project.

Great stuff, that feeling of nearing the finishing line of another WCG research effort... which is when the scientists work really starts to be more earnest... have that complete data set to tease out these special gene families to pass to the growers for breeding.

Re: Nutritious Rice for the World - Crunching Chart

Anyone has a latest batch number or numbers to tune the progress percent? Not fetching RICE myself as the max target was reached some days ago.

Currently have it at 97.4%, still going at 0.2% per day.

In 4-5 days we'll be passing 25,000 CPU years on the projects... A JIT milestone.

edit: To think the initial estimate was over 30,000 years... the hardware volunteered getting ever faster.
