Versions for Mac and other computers

Are there plans to support other hardware / operating systems?

I'd assume there are many PPC, Sparc, Alpha users willing to participate. I'm one.

Even in the Intel world, support for Linux would be great.

How about a portable version in written Java.

Re: Versions for Mac and other computers

That would be great. Then I could contribute at work and home. It should be possible since United Devices has a Grid MP client for the Mac.

Re: Versions for Mac and other computers

Unfortunately, right now we only have a Windows agent available. We'll be sure to post information about support for other platforms when such support is available, but this will probably not be real soon. Sorry.

I suppose us *NIX geeks can always use WINE, I'll give it a shot tonight to see if it works

You could also try a virtual machine system such as vmware.

Re: Versions for Mac and other computers

I run several servers that have plenty of spare processing time. If you had a NIX version I could get more work done.

Re: Versions for Mac and other computers

I'm running fedora core 2, and installed wine-20041019-1fc2winehq.i686.rpm.

1. I run wine against the agent installer
2. an error msg asks if I want to go to some page where I can install some MSI technology.
3. the web page asks me to log into grid.org
4. I never registered, so I try to figure out how to get an ID
5. the only way to get an ID on grid.org is to download ud_agent_setup.exe
6. I run wine against ud_agent_setup.exe
goto #2.

)-:

perhaps I'll see if I can rustle up some windows (bleah) machine.

Folding@Home works in other systems than Windows. Isn't this basically the same thing as F@H anyway? http://folding.stanford.edu/
