Re: AIDS was a man made sickness

Am a new member and found out this thread. The disease is widespread and we have to look for the cure ASAP. I'd rather contribute processor time for this project rather than waste my time looking for evidence. Opinions are ok to post but if these include "***", etc., they become cryptic Further, it would be good to have proofs on any assertions rather than writing "the evidence is out there or look for yourself".

I don't know about two cents worth - two million dollars, more like. I admire Dr Perryman for responding to this person.

Re: AIDS was a man made sickness

There are 6 languages' spell checker dictionaries attached to my browser underlining each mistake on the go. It is even trained to recognize in what language the typing is performed.... but sometimes is misses to identify differences like 'fiche' and 'fig'.

(starting a line with "I" is always bad form, I know, but a grammar checker like there used to be in "Samna" that allowed to set the level of the reader is not on hand, yet, so I've changed the opening line from "I have" to "There are".... it's a cultural thing ;-)

ciao

PS, there are 7 attached in fact: sometimes use the UK-English, sometimes the US-English version, depending on the audience.... the lengths we go :P

Re: AIDS was a man made sickness

i /my team have opted out of this project after learning how AIDS was a man made illness - some say CIA - some say USA made.

the evidence is out there on the web - find it for yourselves - ... ...

At first I thought this post is not worth answering. Crude nonsense.

But then I remembered that I heard such rumors about 20 years ago in the late 1980s.

For I'm german, I looked up corresponding german websites and found here: http://www.verschwoerungen.info/wiki/AIDS
some material on aids-rumors.

For my understanding almost all known aids-rumors are listetd there.

And, of course, all those 'theories' mentioned there are wrong and disproved.

So, don't loose your way in teh web!

Re: AIDS was a man made sickness

What a load of rubbish. HIV is not man made!!! just because some idiot posts it out on the net it is the truth!!!! get real. I suppose if some one posted out on the net that the world is going to end tomorrow that would be true as well?????????

I am HIV+ and have been for nine years, I am gradually getting sick. My latest CD4 count is 156 cells/mm3. I suppose cancer is man made as well??? or that the earth is flat as posted on the net.

You can even look up "treacle" mines on the net and believe that Treacle acutally comes out of the ground!!! sorry for the rant. I just get sick of people saying things like "HIV/AIDS" is not real.

duncanr,
Despite some of the (minority) views you'll occasionally see expressed in the WCG fora, the vast majority of WCG members hope that the FAAH scientists and WCG can someday provide you and other HIV sufferers with an effective cure. Until that day - keeping fighting....

Re: AIDS was a man made sickness

Hello ism,

Regardless of the original source of the HIV virus, the AIDS pandemic now infects over 40 million people (including millions of children). Global warming and perchlorate pollution are actually man-made problems, but they still need lots of our attention, if we are ever to have any hope at ameliorating these problems.

The tools and techniques that we create and test with FightAIDSatHome are shared freely with academic researchers throughout the world. Over 4,000 labs use AutoDock in their own research against other diseases. Helping us also helps them in the long run.

Don't insult all of us. If I were in this for the money, then I would be spending my time getting an M.B.A or a J.D., instead of doing a second postdoc devoted to anti-HIV research. Or I would be designing scientific equipment (all the real money in science is in the equipment...........it's like the gold rush--Levi and Strauss made all the real profit, not the miners. It's generally the same thing in science--Marie Curie and Jonas Salk didn't make billions of dollars with their discoveries, but Arnold Beckman did by designing scientific equipment). My daily salary is less than what a substitute high-school teacher makes. Our project is not about the money, it's about the patients.

This is not a bad project; it's an essential endeavor. Perhaps you're just having a bad day? Go vent your frustrations against people who actually cause problems---not the people who are trying to help.

My $0.02,
Dr. Alex Perryman

Very, very well said Dr. Alex.
Thank you to remember all here that there are many people believing, and investing a lot of time and efforts with researches to find a cure, despite of some scepticism that sometimes we saw away.

By myself considerations, I believe and help all projects in WCG. FA@H ever was one of my favourites and I can't agree, by personnal received education, with any people that use ofensive words here or in any place.

I congratulate you Dr Alex for your continuos contribution to this cause, and encourage you keep involved, once we need people with this kind of approach and knowledge to reach the best results that we can with grid computers projects like FA@H.

Thank you very much. Best Regards.
