I'm not sure why that is in the project config. This is an open project.

This is what LHC@alpha requires. WCG isn't doing this.
?? Account Creation: Account creation disabled. To join the project you have to apply by email on the site.

That is a server side control. IT017094 has an account and when looking in his My Grid, My Profile he will see his BOINC account key.

There is a cc_config.xml flag to prevent attaching to projects, but with the out of the box 5.10.45 install from WCG that will not exist.

Shouldn't this be something like:

Or am I just confused by the different versions of Boinc?

Well, if it was selected from the pick list and not typed, I'd not expect it to have any error.

It's though that the next line is repeated, meaning it has somehow contact, but is not able to retrieve....

Shutting down the firewall temporarily to proof the case would be my next trick.

Retsof,

<client_account_creation_disabled /> means you have to register on the website but the project is open to new members. This is what we use.

<account_creation_disabled /> means that the project is not accepting new members.

Until the client has retrieved and parsed the 'http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/get_project_config.php' page, it will use the project URL as the project name. Once it does get that page, then the client stores and uses the project name in the logs.

I'm guessing the firewall is blocking BOINC.

If you have the same version of Symantec Firewall that I do then the following should allow BOINC to run:

Open the firewall by double left clicking on it in the system tray
Left click on the text 'Client Firewall'
Click on the configure button
Select the 'Programs' tab
Go through the list and look for 'BOINC Client' and 'World Community Grid for Windows'. When you find those let us know what the setting is for 'Internet Access'. If it is not 'Permit All', then change it to 'Permit All'

Since I'm fairly certain that they are being blocked by your firewall, try this and let us know what happens.
