OK Keith, I misread your original post. I thought you were concerned about your personal commitment, rather than the team as a whole.
I'm not sure what you can do about recruitment and increasing the "regulars", but you're not the only team to suffer from dwindling numbers. Just off the top of my head...Crunchers Inc, In2MyNet, Minnesota all have many more registered than are actually crunching. Each one of those teams as well as others would be high and dry if they lost a handful of "regulars". Even my own team, The Edwardians, wouldn't be where we are today without one cruncher...Nite owl. Although, we may be a bit different in the fact that most of us have crunched together for roughly 6 years prior to coming to WCG. I had a chance to analyze a few teams during the Bunny Race and surprisingly, there are many one man teams. Hardly a true meaning of "team" with one member, but that seems to be what many people want to do. So, I guess you work with what you have and hopefully the banter that you can create here on your team thread will entice others to join. |

I love the wild disparities in points from day to day. Yesterday I hit 9000+ points. Today, not even 4300! Ah the vicissitudes of the PV jail.

You know how us guys are with expressing our feelings. I'm just feeling a little frustrated and wanting to move faster on the website. With a lot in flux at the moment, I guess I really shouldn't be surprised though. Just humor me for a while I guess. And now for something from left-field....if you're part of a "one man" team, we'd gladly welcome you here! Part of a small team, don't want to leave it but wish it were bigger? We'll welcome all of you here too! (I guess this would be a team "merger"???) Just a little creative outside the box thinking free-associating wandering mind sort of stuff. ![]() |

I love the wild disparities in points from day to day. Yesterday I hit 9000+ points. Today, not even 4300! Ah the vicissitudes of the PV jail. Yes, I've had as many as 39 pages in PV. The longer DDDT wu's cut that down quite a bit. A couple of weeks ago Kevin mentioned they were going to beta some no quorum DDDT wu's but I neither got any to crunch nor saw any in the Beta stat's. I like the way POEM and some other projects do it with no quorum ... you run it ... it's done. How's that Audi rocket doing? I have the Saleen out for the summer. ![]() ![]() |

Okay folks, welcome to east Tennessee hillbilly. We're stubborn, ornery and hard headed. I prefer to live up to my expectations, not down to them. Yea, I'm hard on myself. Beats being a lazy old snot. It's hard to be patient, partly because I wonder if I'm going to have the option to be patient in the first place. Anyone remember the last time we got a brand new cruncher who actually crunched and did so consistently? Our output is down by a third despite our point totals. We're far too susceptible to the usual vagaries of life that are inevitable. We lose a handful of folks and we could lose the majority of our output. We need more voices here. When it's the same small circle that's active, you have to fight burning out. If it was the middle of the summer, I could use that as an excuse but in the beginning of spring? Yeah, I'm trying hard to recruit people, but there's just so much apathy these days - even in an enlightened college town like Boston. Yep, recruiting is almost out of the question. I've pretty much given up on it. Most folks I know are more worried about their job, mortgage, groceries and gasoline than they are about doing anything charitable. I do some volunteer work for a local no-kill animal shelter and contributions have dropped by almost 25% and adoptions by almost 35%. Few people want another mouth to feed. Asking them to "enjoy" a larger electricity bill to do DC work is a non-starter. ![]() ![]() |

I can't believe that I made it through the winter on racing slicks. Just goes to show you that global warming is real (in Boston at least). |
