cool Re: How to get rid of the icon in the task bar???

Click on Start - Settings - Taskbar and Start Menu - Customize. Then select World Community Grid to bring up the drop down menu and change 'Hide when inactive' to 'Always Hide'. Remember to click on 'Apply'.

Hope this helps.

Windows 2000 does not let you do this easily, as far as I know. If you Google: hide systray icons Windows 2000 this will get you a list of shareware programs that claim to control this and much more. Use at your own risk.
