Error validating boinc results

hi,

i've got some problems with boinc running on my root server
the first time the client was running on this root, there were some errors about the results. the results are listed on "results status", but they didn't get validated -> error

suddenly, the next results got their valid status and points were added.
now i come back from the weekend and the last 27 results got an error again

i don't find some usefull help about this "error" fact, so i decided to ask in this forum. and now, a few error messages, which i can see by clicking on "error" on the results status page

thanks in advance for some help

Re: Error validating boinc results

What exactly do you mean by "root server"?

From the look of the errors, you are running out of memory.

Re: Error validating boinc results

Okay, just for kicks I looked up "root server". Beyond the obvious DNS meaning, I could find nothing.

If you are trying to run BOINC in a chroot jail (a VPS or in a shared environment of any kind) then I suggest you give up now. The memory errors are consistent with this, and you will be in major trouble when the owner of the computer notices.

If not, then please go ahead and explain exactly what you are doing.

Re: Error validating boinc results

lol....why don't you ask for information you need?
i have no clue what i should write now

i looked up the server rules and i am allowed to install everything i want (excluding illegal software)

what am i doing?
i run boinc on my vserver, hosted by server4you.de
better...i try to run boinc. there are errors valdidating the rusults (like those above). for the first few tasks boinc has run fine...and now only errors

does someone know how to fix the problem?
if not, what more information do you need?

Re: Error validating boinc results

Get yourself a dedicated server if you want to run BOINC on hosted hardware.

Re: Error validating boinc results

Hi Dr.Seltsam (Dr.Seldom for none German speakers)

Technically it maybe a permitted thing to install any legal software, but practically, BOINC is designed to take any spare cycle, so if the hoster looks at his performance chart he'd scratch his head as goes to look and change his policy (maybe he already put a gauge on itwink

As for errors, the smallest jobs in memory needs are probably HCC. All the other can take a fare chunk. Here's a matrix:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17855

(think somewhere on this forum there was a discussion quite some time ago on BOINC hosting, but cant recollect when exactly)

ciao ciao

Re: Error validating boinc results

i think you copied (by mistake) a forum link to answer this thread ?

and for none german speakers:
seldom is not the translation for "seltsam". seldom means "selten" in german.
in english, i would call myself Dr.Weird or Dr.Odd

but i still got a problem to solve :P

Re: Error validating boinc results

there's an other weird fact now

some tasks returned to wcg just a few minutes later.

#1
sent time: 03/09/2008 10:21:44
Return Time: 03/09/2008 10:23:05

#2
sent time: 03/09/2008 10:20:24
return time: 03/09/2008 10:21:44

etc

what is wrong?

Re: Error validating boinc results

Hello DrSeltsam,
Here is the Systems Usage Matrix that Sekerob tried to link to: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17855

I do not know where you got your figures from, but I assume that your work units are aborting due to an error. You can check this on My Grid - Results Status.

Lawrence

Question: What do #1 and #2 mean? Are these separate computers?
