I joined because I have this computer that doesn't do much other than email. My work computer does SETI@Home, but this seemed very useful.
I amazed how people like bigdood can turn any simple question into an excuse to go off on ignorant tangents like comparing natural disease to a dilberate attack. I'm sure if a terrorist gets a dirty bomb and sets it off in his/her home town and kills thousands with it, he/she will say so what, more people died of the flu this year. Putz. |

I saw an article through one of the various news sites I visit sporadically.
I was absolutely thrilled to loan my PC's processing power to such a worthy cause. Now I have both SETI and WCG running. I have enough processing power that I haven't even seen a slowdown. ![]() |

I joined the Grid because I wanted to take part in some really interesting research.
Most of us dont get a chance to be a direct part of anything when it comes to basic research and drug discovery. We are not proccessing btw for the grid. We are the grid! We are processing for the Insitute for System Biology. They were are part of the human genome project and thier results did go in the public domain. In fact those results are what we are now running rosetta on. Corporate America would consider the grid to insecure, to run anything they had poured billions of dollars into, to have processed on the sly. |

I joined the grid because my father passed away from cancer in 1993.
It was a horrible thing for my family to experience, and I want to do everything in my power to help find a cure. I will be putting the software on ALL of my families computers, and I will also be dragging out my old dinosaur systems to run the agent as well. |
