The fire news is so awful, stay safe, JC.

My main computer was giving messages that it wasn't able to upload work, so I looked on the forums and see there's an outage. Some people seem to be able to upload part of their stuff. For now, I set the preferences to stop trying.

Hi littlemiss and Thomas. I was typing a reply when the page went 'poof'! Must have been because of my bandaged left wrist accidentally brushed against the keyboard. No, not related to the Waldo Canyon fire.

Anyways, WCG stats (worldwide) were so low that it did not make sense to post them (even though I did take a snapshot of them).

I won't be driving anywhere today and I hope it's just a bad sprain or something. Before I hit another wrong key again, let me say that news are mixed even though 'progress has been made'. I hope so.

From the morning media briefing: "We now know hundreds of homes have been destroyed," Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach said.

Officials are working to get accurate information, he said; a more precise number could be coming as early as noon.

Jerri Marr of the U.S. Forest Service reported good progress in the battle against the fire.

"We have not lost hope ... We have nothing but hope."

Nearly 36 hours after the Waldo Canyon fire tripled in size, city officials were still reluctant Thursday morning to release specific estimates of the number of homes consumed by the blaze.

And homeowners still have no official word if their homes survived. The city has tentative plans to release numbers and inform residents between noon and 4 p.m. Thursday.

But homeowners in the affected areas aren't waiting; they're using social media, satellite technology and other means to learn their home's fate.

"I'm going to disappointed if (President Barack) Obama sees my house in Mountain Shadows before I do," said Patrick Davis, on Facebook, referring to the president's expected visit Friday.

Officials have stressed that their strategy for informing residents of losses must be sensitive and accurate. Erratic fire behavior

kept them from running good assesments of homes lost, said Bret Waters of the Colorado Springs Emergency Management team. As of

Thursday morning, Waters wasn't sure how exactly they would tell people about burned homes - he was getting suggestions from High Park officials, he said, but wouldn't elaborate.

In press conferences, city officials have not used graphic descriptions and definite numbers to qualify and quantify the devastation of the Waldo Canyon fire. Thursday morning, they revealed some tentative plans for informing home owners about the

potential loss of their homes.

Waters said the city's plan to inform residents of their loss is an aggressive and sensitive one. Waters, along with Steve Cox,

Chief of Economic Vitality and Innovation, hope to have closer estimates of home loss by noon Thursday, and possibly lists of addresses of homes lost to flames.

The plan includes sending invitations to residents of certain streets to attend a closed meeting, set for Thursday afternoon, Cox said. At the meetings, officials will have lists of addresses of homes that have been obliterated, partially damaged, or left

almost untouched. Those who have lost homes will meet with officials privately, said Mayor Steve Bach.

Many homeowners are already steps ahead of fire officials, though, and already know they've lost everything.

Firefighters were told in briefings Wednesday morning that between 200 and 300 homes were burned to their foundation. Some firefighters are letting families and friends know how their homes faired in the firestorm. Social media sites have been flooded with photos from the eeriely empty and blackened Mountain Shadows area.

Well, we will soon hear more about what has transpired.
