What a great pressie if we could get them finished in time for Xmas! ...although I predict GPU depression in the New Year Your wish might come true if techs realize Linux app in one week so we can give mankind nice xmas gif (or at least New Year gift) Crunching@Home since January 13 2000. Probably has a little to do with the Christmas Race Challenge 2012 as well since inactive team members are bringing the systems from elsewhere and are focusing on the obvious point strategy of GPU processing.

Everybody should start taking new images fast and send them to WCG to continue keeping the flow of GPU WU's.

Who knows, till again School's Out (Alice Cooper)
----------------------------------------Anyway, neither Monday nor Tuesday beat the Saturday record, but the waiting days on 1 million double image tasks in 24 hours wont be long... Linux is Beta testing now (discuss in Beta forum plz). As the graph is indication, in computing time quite uppie http://bit.ly/WCGHCC , way above the "fair share", 90 years were computed yesterday... rush hour. I expect some more days to be added to est. finish date... there will be holidays soon... some will switch off their system and travel 'round... some will stay home and play some games while using them GPU on their own more often during the day... ;) Not sure about this though... :)

I suspect the machines that will be switched off during the holidays will have been processing CPU tasks, e.g. schools, businesses etc. But as you implied, this is pure guesswork on my part too Crunching in memory of my Mum PEGGY, cousin ROPPA and Aunt AUDREY. |

A little refining tweak to the algo and now it's 50 days left [still on old data... no word from Viktors]. Ears close to the rail, it will be end of Q2-13 as another research group [somewhere on our planet] has submitted their library for inclusion. Not the first time for HCC to do that.
To visualize the impact of GPU computing, the bubble chart is the best place to show. All science spheres used to sit on the diagonal left bottom, right top... HCC though is pushing all off... it's way out, like Neptune. http://bit.ly/WCGSHR Crunch On. |

What does it mean to say "has submitted their library"? I seem to recall LH mentioning something about another project or perhaps it was more HCC work - I can't remember.

It means that like Toronto has generated/is generating their own library of X-Ray Crystallography images of proteins we've been analyzing, there are more research centers around the world who have. They're being joined in, at least they've submitted theirs to Toronto for inclusion... as said not the first time.

I'm sorry, but I don't follow the science end of things at all so although I know what x-ray crystallography is and what it's used for, I have no idea of it's significance vis-a-vis GPU projects. Thanks.
