Bugs... many work unit do get stuck

Hi,

I've for now renounced this world community project because I've had to abandon several work units as they were just eating cpu and not progressing anymore.

Exemple :
faah3023_ZINC03953977_01_xMut_md19120_00_1

When a work unit get stuck :

activity monitor shows more than 100% cpu occupation by the work unit (close to 200% or 300%), and the BOINC manager shows no progress at all, even the time spent does not change at all. (And when you put boinc to sleep, the work unit still eats cpu cycles... for nothing it seems...)

My configuration is :
a early 2008 mac pro, osx leopard 10.5.1, boinc 5.10.34

Re: Bugs... many work unit do get stuck

Is this occurring with all FAAH workunits? Also if you go to the "My GRID" tab on the website and click on the "Results Status" link you can click on any of these workunits which are failing to see the status from other users.

Thanks,
armstrdj

Re: Bugs... many work unit do get stuck

Not all, but many, and I had a failure with dddt as well yesterday.

It looks like the bug affects only osx computers. See there : http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=15383

I posted there as well a message.

Re: Bugs... many work unit do get stuck

I haven't seen this, but a friend of mine is reporting a similar problem with HPF2 workunits. He states that his machine becomes unresponsive due to CPU utilization. He was on UD and I had him switch to BOINC, but the problem happened again.

He mentioned that killing this process, wcg_hpf2_rosetta_5.18_windows, resolved his problem, so it appears this problem may not be isolated to any particular project.

Re: Bugs... many work unit do get stuck

A little more searching on the forums and it appears that this may be related to a known HPF2 problem:
