are we redoing old work units?

Hi there. I'm just wondering, I was doing a whole load of faah3036 work units, and now we're back to the faah 2890x work units again?
What's going on? were the work unit results lost?

Re: are we redoing old work units?

It's not unthinkable after the 2007 upgrade of the AutoDock engine that some work is reprocessed to get better results for items of interest. If you follow the discussion on the project pies for the different experiments, you will have seen that they are being run out of order. Could even be batches that were taken out of circulation when yielding too many errors.... I could not possibly tell if this is a 'again'.

At any rate, Dr. Perryman follows these fora, so I'm sure he'll come around, not necessarily today or tomorrow, to answering and if not before, one of the technicians given the low down on this.

Re: are we redoing old work units?

i'm having 3 FAAH-jobs in my BOINC for the moment;

1) faah2891_ ZINC01628183_ xmd11706_ 01_ 1
2) faah3139_ trioxolane_ MIN_ xmd15970_ 00_ 1
3) faah3139_ trioxolane_ MIN_ xmd00400_ 00_ 0

i just think these are WU's of different experiments if you look to those names: 'ZINC' and 'trioxolane'
i could be wrong too confused

greets

biggrin Re: are we redoing old work units?

Hi whocrazy,

Jobs with numbers between faah2785 and faah2947 correspond to Experiment 14, while faah3082 - faah3144 are part of Experiment 16. Before Experiment 14 has finished, I submitted the docking jobs for Experiments 16 and 17. Since our collaborators want the data from Experiments 16 an 17 as quickly as possible, we increased the priority of these jobs in the FAAH queue. Thus, you'll all be crunching a mixture of jobs from Experiments 14, 16, and 17, with those from 16 and 17 receiving the lion's share of time right now. Once 16 and 17 are finished, then 14 will be finished. Then 15 will be performed. Or it might be changed up a bit by the members of the IBM part of the FAAH team, depending on the number of clients who run BOINC versus the previous version of the software that runs the WCG.

I'm a non-linear thinker who simultaneously performs research on several different fronts. Since everything is conveniently numbered, it's easy to keep track of the particular docking jobs that correspond to each experiment. We'll sort it all out and re-organize it on this end as the results are being processed and analyzed.

Thanks for your help,
Dr. Alex Perryman
