Re: United States Marine Corps - team USMC

smile Hi Graham - thanks for adding the interesting background information about Semper Fi

Even I was not aware of a lot of it, we learn something new everyday.

As you mentioned the official motto of the U.S. Marine Corps is "Semper Fidelis", latin for "Always Faithful".

I might add that until 1871 it was "First to Fight", a motto that still very much applies today.

Through the years, Marines have greeted fellow Marines by saying "Semper Fi", "Semper Fi, Mac" or "Semper Fi Marine" and as the recruiting slogan says when becoming a Marine "the change is forever".

We have another saying "Once a Marine Always a Marine.

Even today when I see another Marine, I still say "Semper Fi, Mac" although I have been out of the Corps for over 43 years I am still a Marine and always will be.

Again thank you Graham for your help and support, it's really appreciated.

Keep folding those proteins...

Re: Semper Fi!

smile Hi everyone -

Today February 14th, 2005 is not only Valentine's Day here in the USA, but it is also the day when team USMC returned its 1,776 result with rank 151.

I want to express my thanks to all the team members for joining the WCG and for allowing their contribution to this project to be associated with this team.

Let's see 1776 makes me think of the US Declaration of Independences, which was adopted on July 4th, 1776 at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - something most people know.

But did you know that each year on November 10th, all US Marines worldwide have a formal ceremony know as the Marine Corps Birthday Ball (including a birthday cake) to celebrate the founding of the Continental Marines at Tun's Tavern in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 10th, 1775.

Yes, that date is correct November 10th, 1775 is celebrated as the Birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

Let's keep folding those proteins...

Re: United States Marine Corps - team USMC

Hi, I went back to Gzappia as I started with that name. I'm running 2 machines with one internet connection and UD monitor and I had some problem sending my results so I reverted to my first name. Appears to be OK for now.

Hi to all in the USMC team and thanks for your welcome from the BlackWatch and the Royal 22nd Regiment: Canada's Fighting 'Van Doos'

Re: United States Marine Corps - team USMC

smile Hi Gzappia/Giovanni_64 -

Welcome back to team USMC as Gzappia and thanks again for joining.

I had wondered if your name change would have any impact on your previous WCG Forum Posts or your statistics.

If you don't mind a suggestion from an old jarhead, why not consider adding an automatic signature to your forum posts, with a link to our team's statistics page. I think this might help recruit and make it easier for others to join our USMC team.

I want to give credit to Graham of My Online Team for showing me how to do it.

Here's what it could look like

flag gzappia flagUSMC flag

and here's how you can do it -

First copy the following block of text to the clipboard (or Notepad) so you can paste it into your WCG Forum Signature Box

{**==] {b]{color=blue]gzappia {/color] {/b] {**==]{url=http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=VD5RSMBR9N1]{b]{color=red] Click here to view or join team {/color]{color=blue]USMC {/color] {/b] {/url] {**==]

Then change each { to [ (you could use notepad to make these changes easier)

now be sure you are signed into WCG as gzappia and then click on this link below to access your WCG forum signature box:

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/changesignature

after you have made the changes and pasted the text into your WCG forum signature box

then click on "Preview" and you can make any other changes you might want.

The signature block has a maximum of 250 characters

When you have it the way you want it be sure to click on "Change Signature" to save it.

That's all there is to it - good luck and Semper Fi

I want to express my thanks to all USMC team members for joining the WCG and for allowing some of their contribution to this project to be associated with this team.

Once again, I want to say that everyone is invited and welcome to join team USMC.

Let's keep folding those proteins...

rose United States Marine Corps - team USMC

smile Hi Ski1939.....
Semper Fi
Semper Fidelis is a Latin motto translating to "always faithful". It is the motto of:......The United States Marine Corps, the amphibious infantry element of the United States Navy, who often reduce it to Semper Fi; the motto signifies the dedication that individual Marines are expected to have to "The Corps" and to their fellow fighting men and women, for the rest of their days and beyond.....
