Hello Everyone,
----------------------------------------I'm just wondering... In the global stats page, the "total run time"- and "points generated"-stats are stats that are slowly increasing, but the "results returned" is steadily decreasing? What's the reason of this trend? (I seem to receive less DDD's as well - is that related?) Regards, Erik

From WCG's point of view, fewer, bigger work units are better. In reality, though, they are pretty much a slave to whatever the scientists need. Only in rare cases do work unit sizes become a problem and need adjusting.

which means if they run it in firms, and skip the day here...a day there! and you will pass the deadline...which will not get you any credit! but you did get the job done...

Unless you cannot connect every day I see no serious reason to have queues so large that a small change in WUs duration could put your meeting deadlines at risk.
----------------------------------------Next week I will have one year of crunching here behind me and I have never seen servers down a full half day. Therefore I run with a 0.5 day extra work cache and it's fine. That also makes me a good client for "emergency" jobs which helps to keep my number of pending validation jobs lower. Cheers. Jean. |

(I seem to receive less DDD's as well - is that related?) Regards, Erik It's uncanny how close in 'tasks' volume the 4 main projects are run these last few days. Who puts the demands from the science side and which members respond to science feedback is very hard to measure, but if the FightAIDS scientist is fielding questions regularly and expresses eager to get the tests for experiment 16-17 completed, you have some indicator of the motivators why one or the other projects goes up or down. (there is a bug in the forum software that stops me seeing the second image in any post (firefox).... don't know why, but reordering that does not change this)
