Hello All,
I am very new to WCG and have what seems like a very small issue: My machine is crunching away and when it is complete with a task, it just sit's there saying Ready to Report. I have been able to go to the projects tab and press the update button, which sends the completed task. Is there a way to "force" the completed tasks to just send? Thanks in advance! Mark |

This is normal.
Tasks are reported at the same time that more work is fetched. |

It seems not to work that way, the machine starts working on more and more tasks however the completed ones sit with a status of Ready to Report until I force the update.
I was thinking it was going to happen when getting new tasks, but I waited an entire day and it ended up uploading several at one time when I told it to update. |

Tasks are queued, so work is available to be started immediately. This means it can be a while (hours, even a day or two) until BOINC needs to fetch more work.
Don't worry, BOINC reports work earlier if it needs to. Just let it do its thing. Switch to the simple view if you don't want to be worried by all the internals. |

Hello Mark Nicholson,
'Ready to Report' is explained here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16783 The result is returned immediately. But there is a message that has to be sent to the Scheduler that will cause a time-consuming database update. BOINC tries to queue up a number of these reports before it sends them all at once. This is intentional and is designed to reduce the load on the server maintaining the Scheduler database. Lawrence |

lawrencehardin & Didactylos,
Thanks for all your help, and the link to complete my bridge of knowledge...or lack there of. I will watch it run for a couple of days to monitor the RtR and keep my finger off the update button. ![]() |
