Re: Advertising?

Excellent, this was one other feature introduced to the website yesterday nicely showing off that things are not in "La Belle au Bois dormant" mode.

Re: Advertising?

I joined WCG and crunch mostly FAAH specifically, in response to a display ad. in one of our local Sydney Australia gay newspapers in about August 2006, which is proof that print-media advertising does attract members.

The advertising campaign ran only for a short while, but the newspaper still features WCG on its website home page - http://www.ssonet.com.au/

I haven't had much success in recruiting others. Most people are not technically up to it, too busy or are not interested. Businesspeople I've spoken to are scared that there could be a data security risk via the Net link, even though they browse the Net, or that running the software could interfere with their commercially-critical systems.

When a tangible benefit such as the discovery of a successful new drug happens, I think it will be much easier to interest people. Keep crunching!

Re: Advertising?

Hi Rickjb,
I think that charity distributed computing will eventually catch on in the schools. Eventually we will be answering questions from a lot of 6th grade students.

cool Re: Advertising?

Hi, I was just wondering whether there was any plans by the WCG to use tv adverts or ads on social network sites to encourage new participents?

Chris

Hello,

You can choose to advertise the WCG yourself on 'social networking sites' like Myspace(largest@~220million users). You could start a GROUP and have members join it, then those members can invite more members. You can embed HTML on certain parts of Myspace to customize a page.

Here is what I created. It only has 5 total members so far. A couple others have also tried advertising on Myspace before me, although not very effectively. I have been able to get a few people interested even if they didn't join the group on Myspace.
