Members badges suggestion

The idea of giving a "project badges" to users is really great, but why not enhance it further?

As I understand, the main idea of badges is to allow users easily see projects, to which they (or smb else) contributed decent amount of theirs' CPU power. But it also would be very cool to see "how much" the user contributed to each project.

For example use 3 types of badges for each project:
1. Bronze. Requires 14 days of calculations being made by the user.
2. Silver. Requires either 2 month of calculations AND more than 5 hours a day average; or after reaching 4 month of calculations.
3. Gold. Requires either 3 month of calculations AND more than 10 hours a day average; or after reaching 6 month of calculations.

As for coloring - it can be either 3 icons with corresponding (bronze, silver, gold) colorings for each project or icons as they are now with addition of small medal icons in the corner.

Of cource badge timing can be different - I've just tried to explain the idea.

Time.

It's the same programmers providing these nifty features that run the grid - so they are very busy. If they find time to work further on the badges, I'm sure that your idea will be used. But you may need rather a lot of patience....

cool Re: Members badges suggestion

Better is to use "service bars'. This would be easy to implement, just ask.

Re: Members badges suggestion

The badges seem like a great fun addition. One question though...is it possible in our statistics to see how many CPU hours we have contributed to earch project? I can't seem to find this information. Thanks.

I think the badges are an excellent idea. I do agree that more could be done with them. Hopefully this will be picked up in the near future.

Badges are a good idea, but medals are for heros. Something we all are.

If there was any question, I think the general has a point. Here is his resume.

United States awards:

Distinguished Service Cross with one oak leaf cluster
Distinguished Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters
Silver Star with one oak leaf cluster
Legion of Merit
Bronze Star Medal
Purple Heart
Silver Lifesaving Medal
Mexican Service Medal
World War I Victory Medal with five battle clasps
European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one silver and two bronze service stars
American Defense Service Medal
World War II Victory Medal
and posthumously, the Army of Occupation Medal.

Outside the US military:

British Order of the Bath
Order of the British Empire
Belgian Order of Leopold
Belgian Croix de Guerre
French Legion of Honor
French Croix de Guerre
Luxemburg War Cross
Grand Luxemburg Cross of the Order of Adolphe of Nassau
Grand Cross of Ouissam Alaouite of Morocco
Order of the White Lion of Czechoslovakia
Czechoslovakian War Cross

Re: Members badges suggestion

Hello !

As I ask in this topic I think it will be better, for exportation and use on other website, to have all badges in a transparent gif (background transparent).

Why ? To permit to everyone who want to use the badges, to have a better integration in their websites/forums.

If the people who work on it need juste the file, i can do it.

(It's minus work too to do like this, because, on this forum, we must use 2 picture by badges (one with grey brackground, and the other one with white brackground), with a transparent brackground, only one picture by badge).

Your idea on different level for the badge it's a great idea. The idea of badges it's a great idea, it's something that addict members to give more and more to the World Community Grid. Stats was juste numbers, too much numbers, with badges, it's begin more "reality" and more FUN ! cool
